Preparing for Your First Facial
Booking your first professional facial is an exciting step toward healthier, glowing skin. If you're not sure what to expect, don't worry — we're here to guide you through the process so you can arrive feeling relaxed and ready.
How to Prepare Your Skin
In the days leading up to your appointment, keep your skincare routine simple. Specifically:
- Avoid strong exfoliants, retinoids, or at-home peels for at least 3–5 days prior
- Skip heavy or full-coverage makeup on the day of your appointment if possible
- Stay hydrated and get a good night's sleep the night before
We will always perform a thorough double-cleanse to start your treatment, so you don't need to arrive perfectly bare-faced — but it does help.
What to Expect During the Treatment
A classic facial typically follows this order:
- Cleansing — Double cleanse to remove makeup, oil, and impurities
- Skin analysis — A close look at your skin type, concerns, and texture
- Exfoliation — Removes dead skin cells to prep for deeper steps
- Extractions — Gently clears clogged pores (if needed)
- Facial massage — Boosts circulation and relaxation
- Customized mask — Targeted to your specific skin needs
We will communicate with you throughout the process to ensure you are comfortable. Extractions may feel like slight pressure, but they should never be painful.
Questions to Ask Your Aesthetician
Your facial is also a consultation — use the time! Great questions include:
- What is my true skin type, and has it changed?
- Which products in my current routine are working (or not)?
- How often should I be coming in for treatments?
- What can I do at home to better target my specific concerns?
We love educating our clients about their skin — no question is too small.
