Skincare Myths Debunked
The beauty industry is full of conflicting information. Today, we're setting the record straight by debunking some of the most common skincare myths we hear in the studio.
Myth 1: Chemical Peels Will Leave You Red and Raw for Weeks
Truth: While deep medical peels require significant downtime, the superficial and medium-depth peels we offer — like Lactic and Glycolic — are highly controlled. Many clients experience only mild flaking for a few days, or simply a radiant glow with zero visible peeling. It's far gentler than most people expect.
Myth 2: Oily Skin Doesn't Need Moisturizer
Truth: Skipping moisturizer is one of the worst things you can do for oily or acne-prone skin. When your skin is dehydrated, it overcompensates by producing more oil, which leads to further breakouts. The key is finding the right moisturizer — a lightweight, non-comedogenic formula that hydrates without clogging pores.
Myth 3: Pores Can Open and Close
Truth: Pores do not have muscles and cannot open or close like doors. Steam helps to loosen debris trapped inside the pore, making extractions easier — but it doesn't actually change pore size. However, regular exfoliation and treatments like Microdermabrasion can make pores appear smaller by keeping them consistently clear.
Myth 4: You Only Need SPF When It's Sunny
Truth: UV rays penetrate through clouds and windows. This means they're reaching your skin during your morning commute, at your desk, and on overcast winter days. Daily sun protection is the single most effective anti-aging and hyperpigmentation-prevention tool you have. Wear it every day — no exceptions.
